Jennifer Carlson, MA, LPC/Clinical Director
Jennifer is a licensed professional counselor who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults with anxiety, low self-esteem, and autism. She graduated from Richmont Graduate University, where she earned her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy with a certificate in child and adolescent counseling. Before her graduate studies, Jennifer received her Bachelor’s degrees in biology and psychology from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she specialized in neuropsychology.
Jennifer has experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults dealing with social skill deficits, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, gender identity, stress, and life transitions. She also runs therapeutic role-playing game groups that provide a fun and safe place for clients to learn and practice their social skills, gain self-confidence and insight about themselves, and make meaningful connections with others.
Jennifer’s goal in therapy is to create a safe and fostering environment through which her clients can build self-confidence, learn and practice new skills, and gain insight about themselves and others while engaging in fun, positive experiences. Her therapy style is warm, fun, and supportive. She employs an eclectic array of counseling techniques, including CBT, play therapy, and other creative therapy techniques, and caters to each experience to her client’s specific needs. Jennifer is passionate about celebrating her clients’ strengths and helping them use their unique strengths to create their own successes.
Three things Jennifer enjoys: Collecting and playing board games, reading sci-fi and fantasy books, and finding the best coffee shop in Atlanta.
